One of my HD was repartitioned and reformated and passed in all manufacturer's and WinXP tests. But EXE files copied/moved to it won't run. No problems with TXT and JPG files. No virus and similar have been found.
Any help on what else can I do to make it work properly?

Do your exe files run all right on the computer and this problem is only from executables that are copied to it? Any error? Examples of the executables your trying to run may help. Some (many) things need to installed rather than copied in order to run properly. Particularly *.exe "s that need other files and registry pointers.

    In the mean time.....
I grabbed this out of the archives. I figured it was worth a shot and the suggestion needed to eliminated from the possible fixes. It's bound to show up as a time tested "fix suggestion ".

The association fixes are what I had in mind when I snatched it up for a link paste.

Please be sure your not adware or viral infected. The symptoms and behavior you described are classic red flags or indicators for such!

    OldSailor,

    Listen to the goddez... :D

You will have to re-install the programs (.exes) in order for them to work. They cannot just be copied to the new drive. Sorry no easy way here. HTH

Just copying and/or moving files to the reformatted disks won't necessarily work and may have to be properly reinstalled. If they had any references in the Registry, those references will now be lost and Windows won't know where they are or be able to run them correctly...

    Thanks for the advice but...
I not only listen to the goddez but also pray for them.
My problem is a little more complicated. A typical example:
I download a setup program or a crack saving directly in the bad HD.
And the simple exe files won't run. It's completely different from copying
a bunch os files from a folder (without dll's and other that may have been
installed in windows\system32 folder) and paste them. So far I think I know that they won't work. Is it clear now?
I am very convinced that I have a sw problem. The HD passed in all tests and in CHKDSK without a single failure.
    Thanks again

    Good luck!

That's what you get pirating software.

    Format & start from scratch.
