Last week I was trying to upgrade a customer's computer from Windows XP Media Edition to Windows XP Pro. I tried several different XP Pro disks and keys (legal copies I own), but for what ever Kept getting messages saying invalid key. I tried using the same disks and keys on a Win 98 computer and had no problems. Is it possible to upgrade a computer from Windows XP Media Edition to Windows XP Pro with out doing a complete back up a reinstall?

If so what am I doing wrong?

    Thanks

    Tim

I doubt it'll work, since WinXP MCE was released after 'normal' XP, so to go from MCE > XP would be seen as "downgrade" rather then upgrade.

Why would you want to do that anyway?

The reason I want to go from Win MCE to Win XP is so I can join the computer to the copmany domain.

According to what I've heard, MCE 2005 does not allow for you to join a domain but a MCE 2004 PC upgraded to MCE 2005 can join domains.

Now if you want to install XP Pro, you'll have to do a fresh install.
