All of a sudden today I can no longer get my Outlook 2002 to receive mail from any of my 3 e-mail accounts. I get an error that says

"Task 'mail.win.bright.net - Sending and Receiving' reported error (0x8004210A) : 'The operation timed out waiting for a response from the receiving (POP) server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).' "

I get this same message for all 3 accounts which are with different ISPs. I have Windows XP Home edition version 2002, service pack 2. The only thing I have done recently that is new is I intalled a new USB 2.0 card to be able to hook up a new HP printer. I did have an issue with an ASP.NET machine account that started this morning but I downloaded a patch from Microsoft and that has fixed that.

I have no idea of even where to start. Thanks for any help!

Are you running any type of firewall/internet security? What brand and version? May be what's blocking email connection.

I am running Norton Internet Security and I did do a recent update the night before it happened to make sure I was protected against the new virus threat set to hit on the 3rd.

    Thanks!

I installed the Microsoft Office 2002 Service Pack 3 but my problem still remains. Any other ideas?

    Thanks,

Are you able to send? Just not receive, or unable to do either?

I can't do either. I did go out to Symantec's website and did some fixes that they recommended but that hasn't helped. One of the suggestions was to go into the firewall settings on my Norton Internet Security and list my e-mail servers as trusted sites but everytime I do that the program freezes up and I have to do a hard restart of my computer (i.e. push and hold the power button) to get things to work again.

I have done multiple online virus and trojan horse scans plus I have gone through AdAware and Spybot S&D just to make sure there isn't anything like that mucking it all up. I am just at a loss and working off my web-based e-mail is getting old fast.

Thanks so much for any help!!
