I have a Windows XP Home Edition computer with a Speedstream 5360 DSL modem connected to a WRT54G Linksys Router. The problem is that after a while the internet stops working on my computer, but my other computer's internet works fine. It works after restarting it, but the problem starts up again. I don't know if this is relevant to this but when i went into the event viewer it showed a event id 7023 error and said that the computer browser was terminated because it timed out. Can somebody help me fix the problem? Thanks for any suggestions.

Do you lose connection while using the pc or after it sits idle for a while? It it's after it sits idle, go into Device Manager->network adaptor properties->power mgmt tab and disable the power feature.

I had the Windows firewall service disabled for a long time and this problem just started recently. Today when i started my second computer its internet stopped working, and tried to restart but that did not work.

    merlinone,

You mentioned you have two Computers, are they bth riming out on the connection or only one. If its just the one, after doing Steve R Jones's suggestion I would say if possible power down the second pc for a minutes. Take out pc1's nic and install pc2's nic. See if the problem still occurs, if so it is not a defective NIC its something in your settings. However if both PCs seem to be affected or become affected I would suggest calling your ISP and ask if they may be working on the lines near your house or residence.
