    WinXP Home, SP2

I have a need to return to the default theme (as it appears after a new install of winxp).

I'm trying to help my sister via long distance telephone communication and e-mails. Apparently when she boots up and hits the start key all she sees is the program list menu, no Performance and Maintenance, Control Panel, etc. I use the modified classic view and havent used the default theme in ages.

I loaded the Windows Default Theme but that doesnt bring back the Performance and Maintenance, Control Panel, etc. Must be a different

    setting to turn those on......

How to get the default back to original settings?

    thanks,

have you tried this: right click on the taskbar then click properties. go to the start menu tab and click customize beside whichever setting you are using. click the advanced tab if you use the xp start menu or if you use the classic menu it is just a box at the bottom. look through the item that are on that list and select what you want to be on the start menu.

idk if that is what you have wrong but give it a try
