I was just looking over my HD with Powerdesk ( looking for something else ) and found these.

    Three folders
    Found.000 is empty.

    Found001 has 3 files named File000.CHK-File002.CHK.-CHK-SIZE-Recovered File Fragments 12/29/1005

    Found002 has 113 files named File000.CHK-File112.CHK-CHK-SIZE-Recovered File Fragments 1/26/2006

What ( if any ) program did I run that created these files ?

I do not recall even the slightest hic-cup around those times.

BillyBob, you have just seen the files recovered after running chkdsk. When chkdsk recovers a file, it has no name of knowing the filename so it names it like this file0001.chk,file0002.chk and so on. Similarly any recovered folders are named as found001,found002 and so on. 99% of the time these files are junk and can be safely deleted but if you have lost some data, you can look into these files (one by one) and try to recover data.

I have copied the Folders/Files in question over to a CD.

I have not lost any data.

I looked at some of the files and quite a few say " This program can not be run in MS DOS MODE. "

So unless I am thinking/understanding incorrectly I should be able to delete them with no problem. They are taking up app 3meg of space.

BTW. I decided to ASK FIRST this time. And I can not think of a better place to ask.
