I like and use Windows Picture and Fax Viewer to look at photos in X:p. When I want to edit them, I just click on the icon at the bottom then it says, "Closes this program and opens the image for editing. "

I've done this for years without any problems. Now when I click on the icon, a box opens and asks what program I want to chose to open this file. What happened? How can I get it back to the way it was before? Thanks,
    Chris.

An association has been lost or possibly you have installed another image editing program.

In the box which opens asking which program you want to ues, select the program and check the box at the bottom of the dialogue box which says ; Always use ...' or words to that effect. If that box is not there post back and we'll try and take this further.

Windows Picture and fax viewer is in the list but the problem is edit is within the program. When I choose the program, it opens it in the program witch I'm already in. I'm right back to where I started from. Thanks for replying, Chris.

I just remembered the default editing is "Paint." I looked for it and can't find it. Where is it hiding? I thought I could get to it from the start menu? Chris.

    Start > Programs > Accessories > Paint

    %SystemRoot%\system32\mspaint.exe

Click start>run and type sfc /scannow. You may be prompted for you XP CD. Depends on how things are set up.

Worked good. Thank you! It wanted to install ie with msn. I remember I uninstalled that. Wonder if Paint has anything to do with ie-msn? I didn't get rid of ie, just saw ie with msn when I got rid of stuff in disc clean up.
Amazing how I can remember this AFTER its fixed. Chris.
