Then you must have erred somewhere because the final should be less than 600 MB.

That would seem to be a bit large. Mine uses 625MBs. Not knowing what guide you used or just where you went wrong I'm not sure what to tell you other than to say try it again. Have you seen this guide? Or, if you want you can download AutoStreamer and let it do it for you. If things still don't work, what kind of CD are you using? Is it a Windows CD you bought or is it one that came with your computer?

Tony, just saw your post. That's odd. Here's the property window from my SP2 slipstreamed disk. Wonder why the difference?

Gateway may have put some programs on it. You can also safely delete these folders:SUPPORT, cmpnents. You only need the files in root directory, in 386 folder and $OEM$ directory.

    yes, I stand corrected.
I have a slipstreamed sp2 but removed quite a bit of unnecessary stuff right off the bat, such as msn, messenger, outlook express and others and my iso is about 525 MB. I even have one that's 450 MB! A regular xpsp2 slipstreamed iso is approx 625 MB give or take.

I think rsinfo is right on with this one.
My Past experience with Gateway is they do have extra "stuff" on their CD.

My Slipstreamed XP is just like Zander's, 625MB.

What was the error and could you install after formatting?

Some file seems to be missing or corrupt. Try burning another cd.
