    Hi all,

Have been trying to restore my computer to the factory settings, and left a post about this a few days ago, as I was missing a so called "C:\cwspdmi.swp ".

    This post is located at:
    http://www.windowsbbs.com/showthread.php?t=51281

Exhausting all avenues of fixing the problem, including everything noted on the above post, I'm left with one last option.

I have an archive DVD that has the original factory install on it as follows:

    factory.pqi
    factory.001
    factory.002 up to 007

Borrowed Norton Ghost 2005 from a friend, installed it, and it doesn't recognise it.

Anyone know of any programs that can open a .pqi file to re-image my C:/ drive, from these factory files?

    Thanks

That's a Drive Image extension and I'm surprised Ghost didn't recognize it. Drive Image used to be a product of Powerquest and was bought from them by Symantec. I don't have Ghost but it's my understanding that it's pretty much become what Drive Image was.

I can't really help you much other than to tell you that I have Drive Image 4.0 and pqi was the extension it used. If you don't have the program, where did the files come from? Have you checked the start menu for a Powerquest group. If it's there, there's a shortcut you can use to make a bootable floppy that you can run the program from and restore those files. If you don't have it, maybe you could find an old copy for sale at Ebay or some other similar site. My guess would be that any Drive Image version newer than mine would work too but I can't say for sure.

Looking at your last thread I see you know most of this already. It might be hard to come by but I'd try to find a copy of Drive Image. If you do, you might want to get a version of 5.0 or higher. It's my understanding that 4.0 is incompatible with XP but I've used it in the past on mine and never had a problem. I'm using FAT32 though and it may be that it has something to do with the NTFS files system that most have.
