    Greetings ~ All,
Decided to install TB!! Didn't work!!? Carefully backed up all my Ns7.0 profile, just in case..Upon installing TB it said it migrated all my NS7 mail, ect. It didn't, nothing was there, just a native installation.
Refused to connect to my ISP!! Wouldn't accept my pass word!!! It's an identical setup as I have on my 2nd HD?? It would allow me to "send" mail? Strange, but refused to allow me to log in and get mail??
I "removed" TB immediately from C drive!!
    Any suggestions?
    John in Dallas.

How can I have any constructive suggestions if you removed Thunderbird?
If you had uninstalled NS7.0, your profile would have not been looked at it.
So, you would have ended up with a blank installation. However, you should have looked at Tools|Mail accounts settings. Was anything there. I, really, can't understand how you got to the point you did, not accepting your password, nor connecting to your ISP. Did you get any message? Was there a POP mail account that you were trying to transfer.
I, personally, never trusted these transfer, and, having multiple profiles, they would not worked, so I am used to set everything up, and double check if everything is correct. Was the set up on the 2nd HD, on the same computer? i.e. C drive in each case?

    John,

Take a look at this page, and see if you followed this protocol to install Thunderbird: http://opensourcearticles.com/introduction_to_thunderbird

If you are still interested in getting Thunderbird working, then install Thunderbird again. But first, let's be sure it is a "clean" install.

Ensure that you have deleted the entire Thunderbird folder from:
    C:\Documents and Settings\*user name*\Application Data\Thunderbird (XP)
If this is a Profile you wish to keep, then backup first.

Also delete the Mozilla Thunderbird folder in your Program Files:
    C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird
Run a Registry Cleaner to completely clear the system of TB

    REBOOT YOUR PC

Download a new copy of TB 1.5

    Create a new profile

If it still won't start, then follow these suggestions:
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_(Thunderbird)

    TB con't

    Hi-Ramona,
Glad to see you're back and well....We DO need you out here.<g>
As always, I follow your instructions on your web site, completely..
I've never created a profile, as you suggest? It never asks for one, I always use the default option.
TB d/l and installed fine..ask to import settings, ect. from NS7.0, but didn't import anything? OF course I didn't delete NS7 just backed up my profile, as you suggest in copy/paste format, so NS 7 was intact.
I was concerned to see TB didn't import anything from NS, just a NEW completely empty program.
On my 2nd HD, TB was a new install, so nothing to import anyway, other than IE, which I ignored. Perhaps, that's a reason? I thought TB would import ALL of my NS7.0 settings, mail, ect. since it asked for it, during the process?
I shall try again sometime? Just don't want to corrupt my good working NS7.0

Your "sarcasim" is NOT constructive! Making one feel stupid, incomptent serves only YOUR needs!!
My original post was meant MORE as a statement of FACT than a cry for HELP!

So, you can open NS7.0 and use it? If you did i have no answer, because TB should have imported your settings from 7.0, if it was fully working. Backing up should have no effect, if you just made a copy. The program does not matter, but it is a good idea to back up your profile. Even if NS7.0 is not installed you can, manually, get your mail, as outlined by Ramona.
