Hi, when I receive mail through TB 1.7, there is little red triangles. I've noticed this when I get mail from ebay. I had this problem with Outlook express 6 but I cleared it up by unchecking 2 items in security. I can't see this option in TB.
    Any ideas?

    Bimmer Guy,

Where exactly are these red triangles located in the message? Are they in a blank attachment, or randomly placed?

Good morning Ramona, they are showing pictures of items in a mail from ebay. Not randomly placed. The triangles are jpegs or gifs, can't tell which.

    Bimmer Guy,

O.K., that's what I thought, and here are a few settings to check:

For embedded images ensure that the setting for
    View | Message Body As
    is set to Original HTML

    For attached images
    View | Display Attachments Inline

    For remote images
    Tools | Options | Advanced | Privacy
Disable: Block loading of remote images in mail messages.
    NOTE:
It is recommended that you keep this checked as your default setting, as spammers can use remote images to detect whether you've viewed messages they've sent to you. But to temporarily troubleshoot your problem, disable the setting.

If you are using Thunderbird with a proxy, it is possible that this is the source of the problem. Try adjusting your proxy settings and see if this helps.

Hi, everything was defaulted to the suggestions you gave me. Except for Block loading of remote images in mail messages which I had already unchecked. Still no dice, red triangles still there. Might it be only "ebay "?

I made a silly error in not seeing this. I JUST noticed that TB tagged ebay's mail as trash. That was the problem. I untagged it as trash and the mail comes through 100%:) Thanks ever so much for your help Ramona.

    Bimmer Guy,

The reason for your problem, since the messages are being tagged as Junk Mail, is that messages marked as Junk are normally "sanitized ", meaning that they are displayed without any images or other HTML formatting. If you want to change this behavior, go to:
    Tools | Junk Mail Controls
    Click on the Settings tab
Disable: When displaying HTML messages marked as Junk, sanitize the HTML
