You can backup to a CD using Window's backup utility if you have the proper software installed on your computer. If you have either Nero or Roxio EZCD you have what you need. You need to first format a CD using Nero's InCD or Roxio's Drag and Drop (or whatever they call it now). Used to be called Direct CD.

Once the CD is formatted run your backup utility and choose to "save to file" and then browse to your CD writer drive and select it for the location to save the file. The program will run and write the file directly to the CD if you do this.

Turns out I have Nero Express and just copied all my data files. It was quite easy and didn't envolve formating. I guess after picking the files I wanted and going through the steps all that needed to be done was done. It even verified the copy! Thanks for everyones help !:)

    Hello glohar,

To clarify, what do you mean by programs?

If you mean anything in the Program files folder, that's useless to do (with some exceptions).

    Regards - Charles
