I am having trouble with my USB.
I believe my USB controller is not installed. My PC cannot find the driver for it, so I am left without the use of my USB ports.

Does anyone know of a link to the approprate driver?

    System summary:
    OS: Win ME
    RAM: 128 MB
    CPU: AMD Athlon 900 MHz

    Thanks,
    Ben mize

    Hello Ben,

When you go into Device Manager, USB Controllers, what does it say? Is there a yellow shield symbol next to it?

WinMe should have generic usb 1.1 drivers already installed, its part of the OS.

The issue may be usb 2.2, look for drivers for usb 2.2 here:

    Hello Ben,

Are the USB devices you have hooked up 1.1 or 2.0 devices?

If you right click on the USB controller in DM > properties, what does it say?

If you haven't tried this already: right click on the usb controller in DM and uninstall, then re boot. This gives the OS a chance to re detect the controller.

    Regards - Charles

It says windows is unable to locate device driver.
I am having trouble locating one. If you have a magic link for me that would be great!
I think it's great what this site does, thank you!

    Hi Ben,

    No magic link I'm afraid.

Try this: Go to the link I gave you earlier and scroll down to
IBM Multi port USB Hub Win NT/2k/XP and run it. What it is a scanner to test the USB configuration on your system. WinME's drivers are the same as XP's, so I think it should work.

Post back what it reports and may give us a clue.

    Regards - Charles

There must be a generic USB controller thats compatible with all windows OS. The motherboard model is not an issue for this problem. I am investigating the possibility of VGI Tech having the right driver for me. I will keep looking as well. Please let me know if you are able to download, as I will let you know if I find the right driver.
