web cam problem

    yes me again!

    right ive just bought a new web cam and it wont work! ive follwed all the correct instructions in stalled the disc 1st etc then pluged it in.
    now when i got to msn to talk and invite to veiw my cam it is actaully connecting but all thats there is a black box sometimes grey sometimes white and i havnt a clue ive uninstalled it and installed again to make sure i was doing it properly but still the same!
    its a web cam by labtec.

    any suggestions???

    first shot = go to labtec.com (i'm guessing here - they're support site is what i mean) and look for the current drivers/setup. dload it and follow along the same way. more often than not, the stuff on CD is old by the time u get it.

    You may need to set the Logitech as your webcam source, in your MSN Messenger. Try going to Tools, then to Audio/Video. It first checks your microphone, and speakers I believe. Then asks you to select the webcam you are using, with a drop down box. Make sure you have the correct one selected. Also, you may want to check in the Webcam Settings, to see if it lets you select it there as well. It sounds like MSN is trying to use the wrong video source for the camera.

    Webcams need DirectX 9. You can check the version of DirectX and run some tests by going to Start -> Run and enter
    dxdiag
    For DirectX to run correctly you need to have correctly installed graphics drivers.
