I am using IE 6 in XP Home. Every now and then when I go to a site, I get a blank page and the word "done" in the status bar. I have the default privacy and security options but have tried turning everything off. nO joy. any one know why this happens? It did not happen with 5.5. I have tried Netscape also and get the same results - the pages used to load without trouble

Most likely to be an issue with either your ISP or the sites themselves.

You could try emptying your browser's cache - but I doubt that it'll make any difference.

Post a URL to one of the sites with which you're regularly having difficulties and we'll see whether others are able to access it.

Go to Start - Run, and then type, "REGSVR32 URLMON.DLL" (without the quotes).

In IE, Tools menu, Internet Options, Programs and click the "Reset Web Settings" button.

    Both links work for me.

Are you trying to open these pages via links in other windows or in a new window?

    Have you cleared your cache?

I suggest that you run this past your ISP's technical support people too.

I'm having a similar problem - can't access any page via the blue links on the page being used. A new window opens and that's all.
I just had ADSL installed and links worked ok but stopped working today. I've been fiddling with settings and going back to default doesn't help.

    IE5.5sp2, win98se and a pent.2 - 300

PS this site is one where a link within a window leads nowhere.

I talked with my ISP as suggested who has very helpful. However he ended up suggesting I remove TCP/IP as he thought it might be a corrupted winsock file. This was a disaster as XP refused to reinstall it and I ended up with a new setup ( as repair did not do the trick ) of XP. And you know what that involves. I suspect some of the IE security updates as some of the sites are working but not all. I think I will leave well alone .......................
