    Hello Terry,

When was the last time you defragged?

Disable MS AS and Ewido (seperately) on startup and see if that does it.

Download and run Autoruns - not all startups show up in msconfig.

Hi TerryFox, please do not "defag" your hard disk or it won't have teeth left :)

What you need perhaps is a registry cleaner to clean up the mess you made.

u may also find it worthwhile to look at u'r pc maker's updates and FAQs. they may advise of some issue /w recent patches or glitches etc and it's probably a good idea to get the latest/greatest firmware etc from them

USB devices can slow down startup. Mapped drives to other pc will slow it down also. Will get real slow if the other pc is turned off.

Even if it may not be case here, I can 100% vouch for that. I had some things on one PC shared with this one. The other PC was not turned on and this machine took A LLLOOONNGG time to boot up. And a couple of programs would not run.

That is when I went to a Router and set each machine up as an individual unit with none depending on the other for anything. Even my Printer is no longer shared. It is individual to each machine. The bit of extra cost and wiring was well worth it.
