    RE: SPELL-CHECKER

What is the use of spell checker? I never spell checked before I print stuff.

So you ran spellcheck everytime you printed or for some important docs only? problem is I can't think of anything important enough to run spellcheck.

I had hoped that you would show me some interesting uses. ;)

Just wanted to report that I installed the Mozilla 1.0 RC3 spellchecker and tested it by purposely mis-spelling some words while composing an E-mail. After clicking on the Spell check option in the E-mail composition window, the "Check Spelling" window popped up. I eventually got it to work by switching the Language from the default "Download More" to "en-US" and then closing and reopening Mozilla.

I used the spellchecker in NS 4.79 occasionally so I'm glad Mozilla has one now.

Thanks for the heads up, Alice.

    What should also be mentioned:

If you don't designate a language for Spellchecker, you will encounter an XPCOM.DLL error. This is a bug in the Mozilla Spellchecker, and you can read about the bug HERE

Sled and Ramona, You're welcome. I'm glad I spotted the Language field before posting a question here! That would have been embarrassing

    FWIW
I looked over the bug report mentioned and it talks about a Warning dialog during program loading (due to having an earlier version of the spellchecker installed, then installing a later Mozilla build):

    "XPCOM:EventReceiver:Mozilla.exe Entry point
    ?AppendFromReadable@nsAString@@IAEXABV1@@Z in xpcom.dll "

    (whatever that means!)

I got an IPF, MOZILLA caused an invalid page fault in module XPCOM.DLL but that was only when I tried clicking on some of the spellchecker buttons without first selecting a language.

I did install the correct 1.0 RC3 version of the spellchecker.
