I have seen this subject in another posting but it dealt with re-assigning the Insert key so that the user didn't accidentally press it.

What I want to know is can a PC (bios or Windows) be configured so that the INSERT key be in 'insert' mode (ie ON) instead of 'overstrike mode'. Whenever I edit text (in my email software - Eudora) I usually want to INSERT characters and not the other way yet when I key in text instead of inserting it removed existing text.

it's normally application specific here. eg - word can set default mode as either and will stay that way until u change it back

check u'r eudora settings and, if it's using another editor to do mail, then it's that apps settings that should be fixed. also note that if a 'template' is used that IT may have the settings u want to change. eg - the template may hold the 'defaults' and u'd have to edit the template to suit

    Thanks Skeet.
I looked for a setting within Eudora but couldn't find it so maybe it uses another editing program or a template which I will search for.
