I'm setting up a Dell computer and attempting to switch from Dell's Jukebox to Windows Media Player 10. All works fine when I use the Jukebox, but, with WMP10, there is no sound from the right speaker. I've check balance and volume and I can't find anything out of the ordinary. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can check to solve this problem?

In Media Player, go to Tools>Options>Devices tab, click on "Speakers" once to select, then on the Properties button. Make sure your sound card is selected in the "Audio Device to use" field.

I just checked mine and found that the correct sound card was not selected. Since I seldom use WMP, I don't know if that has affected playback but it does show that WMP tends to have a mind of its own.

Thanks Miz, but I had already done that with no change. All I can think of is to reinstall WMP, but I was hoping to find another quick fix answer. Let me know if you can think of any other possibilities. I know it isn't a hardware problem, as it works fine with all but WMP.

I have the same problem, did you already found the solution?

    Thanks,

Sorry, I was hoping that you might have the answer. Still no luck on this end.

    Solution found !!!

I've got the solution here! It's a corruption of WMP's equalizer settings. All you have to do is to activate the equalizer by menu View --> Improvements --> Equalizer. In my case, the balance slider was on the middle, but moving the slider resulted in the correct setting.

    Hope this helps.

I had already tried that, but it didn't help. I'm glad it worked for you. I'll keep looking. It is on my mother's computer, and I don't think she notices the difference anyway. It was just a challenge for me to fix.

So, what do you experience when moving the balance slider to the right? Do you still hear nothing from the right channel?

This is a REALLY wild shot .... do you, have you ever had a Karaoke plug-in installed in WMP. They have the ability to shut off left or right channel or play both.

The left channel fades properly but still no sound from the right channel, when I move the balance control. This is a brand new computer for my 84 year old mother and I doubt that she installed Karaoke. I may have to run that one by her. I think I may have to rely on Dell support to solve this one. Thanks for all the suggestions.
