My operating system is now Windows XP Home Edition but it doesn't include PWS or IIS. I want to try running my scripts locally w/o having to deal w/ uploading files to my web host. What can you suggest?

Do you have any experience with Apache? It's much more stable and reliable than IIS in my opinion.

Good suggestion except that I'm not familiar with Apache. Any more suggestion I could use?

Thanks, Kevin. I tried that but I searched my directory for that 'sysoc.inf' and I can't find it anywhere. I even searched it in the installer for winXP HE. Any other suggestions?

Some OEM cd's do not contain all the Windows XP options. Sorry. I have no other suggestion. Ashburrn's suggesion of Apache is a good one.

Could you tell me what programs exactly do you plan on running on your web server?

    ASP? PHP? for example.

if i may suggest running apache again, there is a MSI installer package for it that makes it quite simple to install and use.... I'd really suggest spending an hour or 2 to look up some documentation on it

After installing apache, I was able to get perl, php, and mysql working all within a 5 hour time frame :) Use apache for windows, its really not as hard as u might think

Yes, it's easy to install. There is a Windows Installer file for it.
