"An I/O operation initiated by the Registry failed unrecoverably. The
Registry could not read in,or write out, or flush, one of the files that
contain system's image of the Registry"

I get this when I try to boot the comp after its been turned off for serveral hours. I then go into safe mode and use a program called "RegScrubXP" after I run regscrub the comp will boot normally.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Did you allow the OS to format the original drive or did you do a "repair" install? It sounds like some piece of your hardware has a compatability issue with the OS. Maybe a bad driver. Have you checked for updates on all your drivers?

I have to get up in a few hours for work but I'll be back tomorrow to continue this.

Seagate CD ? Are you using Seagate CD to install your drive ? If yes, just take a backup and install Win XP again AFTER removing any 3rd party partition manager.

my .02 = why do people format at all? if u'r intention is to reinstall, kill partitions and just boot the installer. it'll make less mistakes than more specialized software.
