    Hi,
Can someone please give me useful information on the pros and cons of a dual Processor mobo. I have 2 Pentium 3 CPU's 1000 and just wondering if those mobos for dual are of any real use.
    thanks

Typical non server enviroment pretty much has no use/need for dual procs.

Two 1gig procs is as slow if not slower than One 2gig proc.

PIII machines are pretty dated and don't have too much value.

Only useful if you want to run them as a server.... Then, for a business enviroment, not a home setup, unless you wanted a a good lanparty games server...let's frag!:D

Im running a Dual PIII 1.0GHz in my home box :D on the Abit VP6 mobo (which I have to change caps on) other than that it runs kinda slick. You get true parallel threads. I have had my machine out perform a 2.4Ghz P4 with Hyperthreading. Yeah the PIII is kinda old but for most applications its ok. Great for compiling code or doing video recompression.

In the PIII series the duals were called Coppermines. They also had to have matched stepping or they wouldn't work as duals.

thank you for that added info, the 2 Pentium III 1.0GHz CPU's that I have sitting around are the Coppermine type.
This is just something to experiment with to play around with, Dcrypter and Scott, if you could give me some more info on how you set up the system I would appreciate that very much. I will have a look at a swap meet if that Abit VP6 mobo is still available. I have seen a couple of Socket 370 dual mobos, but never seriously looked at them.
I also just started a new thread requesting ideas & help on a serious upgrade for my # 1 PC. thanks
