When I select "Save as" from the file menu and choose CDR it won't save to a blank CD. Why not?

    Hello gengis,

Have to do it thru burning software such as XP's, Roxio or Nero.

BTW, when you want save a web page with "save as ", save it to a folder on the HD, then copy it to the cd.

If you don't want or need anything elaborate and want to use XP's, type "burn" into the search box of Help and Support on the start menu.

    Regards - Charles

When I try I get media not available.

Charlesvar's suggestion is pretty much what I suspected. I remember on W98 that writable disks had to be formatted using Roxio or something similar and then you could save files to the disk like it was a drive or what we now experience with memory sticks.

I wasn't sure if XP with it's own writing to CD software should permit this same sort of thing. I'm not suprised it doesn't.

    Thanks

xp's internal does not do packet writing like incd or such. that's a good thing in my book as packet writers tend to take over blanks discs and can be difficult to use on other systems.

save the file norm then rclick it and choose 'send to' and pick u'r CDR drive. then follow the wiz more or less. or u can just drag/drop on the CDR drive in mycomputer, copy/paste same, etc
