I will try to preview JPG or GIF files in Display Properties dialog but get a white screen then I try to preview what I want. I have found a site that will have me run some reg fixs Here but will only last a few days then will go back to a white screen.

The next problem is when I want to set a picture as a desktop background I will right click on the picture and seleted "Set as desktop background" but the pictured is never set as my background. Any ideas on both?

    Hello antsmarchin01,

Your second problem, not being able to set a background, rang a bell:

See if this solution from an old thread fixes the problem.

Charlesvar's covered the second point. As regards the first though, registering the dll files as in the fix you've tried should be permanent. The fact that the fault reoccurs suggests to me some "virus" type problem or maybe some other program you run is overidding the settings. Does the problem alway reoccur after X number of days? or after you've used another program?

I have an AV software and have also tried other AV installed another AV software to see if there is any virus's. Neither AV software finds a virus. Whats weird is I can still set the certian .jpg file as my wallpaper, but it is just the white screen when I preview. I have tried both AVG and Avast.
