I bought this computer about a year ago:
2.59Ghz; 768 MB of RAM; 143 Gig h.d.; running Windows XP

since i've had it, for some reason, when i right-click on the desktop, the right-click menu takes forever to appear (about 4 seconds). On most other computers, including my old computer, this menu appears alomst instantly.

i have this problem even when there are no programs running.. and other that this, everything's fine. it's not really a "problem ", but it is kind of annoying.. and doesn't make any sense to me.

what is the deal? is there anything i can do to speed things up?

hope someone out there understands what i'm talking about and can lend some advice.. thanks!

shot in the dark = reduce the avaiable number of 'new file types' on the system. i think tweakui powertoy can do this.
