I am trying to help a friend with her computer and it has me stumped. Her son had made a stupid pencil sketch and put in on her computer. Now when you boot up what you get is a white screen with the sketch and that is it, no desktop, no icon, nothing. I cannot go any further to get into the computer and get rid of it. Right clicking the desktop does nothing and ctrl-alt-del shows nothing of help to cancel. Are there any keyboard commands that will bring it up or any other suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks

For grins, bring up Task Manager and go to File->New Task and type C:\Winnt\Explorer.exe and see if that loads the desktop.

Thanks but I still have the dumb screen. I know windows loaded because when I shut down with Task Manager I see the antivirus icon pop up plus this thing has a screen saver on it that runs, but soon as you touch the mouse the stupid white screen and drawing come up. This is a new one for me

You might try using the win-key (second from the left on the bottom row, with a windows symbol on it) as a shift key, holding it down while you tap r once; then type explorer (typing blind if necessary) and hit enter.

Thanks, I'll try that but I got to thinking maybe she has it passworded. It wasnt when I built it years ago. I am trying to get in touch with her to see. That may explain it all
