    Hi,
I have my friend's computer home now trying to figure out her problem. She has a Compaq Computer running Windows ME. She uses AOL as her browser. She was not able to get on her banking sites to do her online banking (they came up after putting in the password) but was blank. I tried to go to the Windows Update screen to update her computer but when it comes up, the window is blank. I went to see what version of IE she was running and there was no version listed, no product ID, just blank lines.

I also tried to run several programs to try to fix her IE program. Nothing worked, everything was blank. I went to AOL to do a "computer check up ", the screen came up blank.

I'm at a loss as to what to do. I think that her IE is corrupted. I went to Add/Remove Programs and there is no IE 6 showing. There was an old IE showing but it said IE5 Custom. I did try to download a repair tool for IE but that didn't work either.

I also tried to download IE6 with the service pack but that didn't make a difference.

Any help you can give me to fix this problem and help her get her banking sites back will be greatly appreciated.

    Jean

    Hi,

I withdraw this posting since I was able to fix the problem. I went to a website: http://www.petri.co.il/download_the_full_ie_package.htm
and downloaded the setup on floppy disk, then I ran the following:
then run the following command in the CMD window:
    ie6setup.exe /c: "ie6wzd.exe /d /s:" "#E" as they said and it seemed to re-install IE.

Now I am able to update the Internet Explorer.

    Thank you anyway.

    Jean
