Well, I got the OTHER machine fixed...

Now I'm working on fixing the "kids" computer. WIN 98SE, 800 Mhz Athlon AMD. I don't know what they did, but at this point I get a lot of the following:

    I have re-installed Win 98SE. No help.
I have re-installed Windows Script Engine. No help.
I have Installed DirectX 9.0c. No help.
I'm trying to get Macromedia Flash installed but I get the above error. ( It comes up at other times, too. )
"Basic" web pages load no problem. Any page that probably needs DirectX or Macromedia / Flash or similar programs for the content just shows blank spaces, and/or a red "X ", and/or that funny looking tri-color icon, etc...

Am I missing something simple??? Currently I'm just going around in circles.

When I started trying to fix this computer it was because the computer would crash when they tried to access the web. Now, it just breaks down, so I need help ... or a tow truck!

    BINGO !

Ran Repair and everything went crazy ( would not load windows... 2/3rds of the way through it would just reboot ). Tried "Safe Mode" which got through without failure, then ran Repair while still in Safe Mode. Got me back to where I was...

Ran SFC, extracted the 1 file.... and now all is well. Or at least seems well! :)

    THANK YOU !
