    Happy Holdays to all,

    I have a very simple question about the Paramaters of CSVDE.

    DN,ObjectClass,cn,sn, givenname,displayname,name,countrycode,userPrincipalName,ObjectCategory

    "CN=John Smith,ou=marketing, dc=contoso,dc=com ",user,John Smith,Smith,John,John Smith,John Smith,4,jsmith@contoso.com, "CN=person,CN=Schema,CN=configuration,dc-contoso,dc=com "

    Questions: I understand what all the Parameters correspond to in the user input except "DN "

    And are these the common parameters used when importing using CSVDE?

    PS I don't know anything about Excell yet so...

    Thanks in advance.

    I appreciate the quick reply Windux. I thought it might mean Domain Name but in looking at the inputs, it didn't correspond in order like all the others did.

    But they have me identifying the Domain in this way "...dc=microsoft, dc=com" Same thing, only different...LOL?? Or does the DN parameter simply tell CSVDE that were dealing with a Domain?

    I will be taking my 70-290 in about a week...:cool:

    Actually DN is Distinguishing Name. See this:

    http://www.zytrax.com/books/ldap/apd/index.html#dn

    As you see a DN can comprise a number of dc elements.

    Another article that may add more light is this:

    http://www.cs.dixie.edu/ldap/mac/ldap/

    This demonstrates how dc elements are used to define the DNS name of a root LDAP server.

    Remember to bear in mind that a DNS domain is NOT the same as an NT4 NetBIOS Domain. This can cause confusion when reading about windows systems.
