My son gave me a 2K OS disk. I do not think it is an "upgrade" but complete OS.

If not upgrade, and I use it, what will happen? I mean, will it install and still allow me to use the applications used under 98se? Or, will I have to reinstall some of them? Too, will the jpgs, tiffs, etc remain intact?

Hi Hive, the full 2K disk will do an upgrade, start it from inside Windows and you will get that option. However you should be aware of the many possible problems with what you are planning – particularly on a laptop.

Your data should remain in tact, but some of your programs most likely won’t work and you will probably have to install some new 2K compatible hardware drivers after the upgrade.

    Thank-you, McTavish

I shall review the links you noted, and then I will either take the plunge naked or done some protective gear, so I lose little.
