[SIZE= "2"][FONT= "Verdana"]I would like to add a currency converter to the Internet Explorer 6 on XP home. How could I do this and customise it like other options to appear as a handy tool on one of the bars above ?

Would really appreciate some learned feedback.

Assuming you already have a converter program installed on your pc AND you're using XP PRO or Win2k (not xp home) ->

    Add Internet Explorer Toolbar Buttons

Use the following step's to add your own browser tool bars. You can add links to any programs on your computer oh to any web page (tweakxp.com) for example.

    1. Go to Start, Run
    2. Type in gpedit.msc
    3. Go to user configuration - Windows Settings - IE Maintenance - Browser UI. Then click on browser toolbar customizations.

Notes: You will need 2 icon files (ico files) one color and one grey for the mouse over.

  3. to hide this advert.

Rista--In your Favorites folder, you should have a Links folder. Put the URL for the currency converter into the Links folder (just as you would any other Favorite) or if this is a program file already on your harddrive, put a shortcut to the file into Links.
Now, if you already have Links showing on your Toolbar, access the converter by clicking on the chevron to the right of Links (or maybe the shorcut to the converter will appear to the right of Links--it depends on how many items are in the Links file). If you do not have Links on your toolbar, right click on a blank spot on the menu or toolbar and check Links.
P,S. Possibly a better explanation here

    Awsome folks !
Steve : Shall use yours on an xp machine in the office.
Welshjim : Did that in two shakes of the duck's tail. (Though I had the Links already working, never came to think of it myself  !)

    Thanks

    Hi Rista,
I prefer IE too, and since I installed the Maxthon browser I hardly ever use
Firefox any more. Maxthon sits on top of IE, adds tabbed browsing, and some useful favourites tools. For the currency conversion I have a favourite link in the toolbar to XE.com.
