    Hello everybody,

After spending several days and hours late into the night I have finally given up with my OEM Disc containing MCE 2005 with sp2. I was hoping some of you guys could take at look at whats happened and provide me with some suggestions?

To cut a long story short I have tried to use my OEM XP MCE 2005 disc to reinstall windows, installs fine right to the end , after the first re-start the windows load screen does not appear and I get the blue screen of death and the error STOP: 0x0000007B (but it does not say un_mountale boot drive).

I then got a hold of a full retail version of media centre off a friend, and this installs fine, and the system works as it should. I have now pinpointed the problem as the OEM disk doesnt like my 250gb Sata Drive it simply doesnt like it, it can be the raid drivers as they are slipstreamed on the disk and I have tried using a floppy drive. I then installed a new hard drive and plugged this into the IDE port, the OEM disc installs fine and windows starts, so I know my system is fine.

So my question is this, how do I get my OEM disk to install on my sata drive? or is it a case the the OEM disk is supplied in such a way that ou cannot amend it to install as a full retail version. And how come the OEM disk installs fine on my moms computer(hpsystem) and not the one it came with?

Any help would be appreciated, and If I get any suggestions I will tell you what happened as I think I have tried everything.

I could use my friends copy of MCE and back it up but my cd key will not work, when I activate the system tells me I have entered the wrong key (doesnt help as my friends copy of xp is american, or can I just ring microsoft and explain the situation and will they let me activate using my key even though its from a OEM retailer. I am loathed to return the system or pay the £1.00 software support line.

    Thanks again.

I thought this also, but If another version of windows does not need them, why should the OEM disk? its the same version, by the way My system is a Shuttle fn95 v2, and the other XP cd, as I have been told has the drivers already installed.

So I am at a total loss.
