When I try to dial up to internet I get the error message about the ppp's not matching....

I have a couple of different dial up connections and none of them work...

    Background....

Before this happened, Windows would not come up so I ran chkdsk and it repaired 1 or more errors....When I logged on to Windows, I couldn't dial up....

I then brought up windows task manager and tried to end process on most of the applications....I get the NT authority shutdown when I try to end the process of one of the svchost......

I will reformat the drive if necessary but would rather not....Where do I go from here?.....

I'm not sure if this is related or not but I've had to run chkdsk a couple of times lately.....When I made that drive a slave I noticed the drive is pretty hot....Is it going out?......If not will reformatting help?....

I really appreciate you guys......Thanks for the help......

    Hello jbh,

Your background info indicates a hardware problem.

To either confirm or eliminate a failing drive problem, go to the HD MFG's site and see if they have diagnostic software for the drive and run that.

    Regards - Charles
