On startup, my PC has problems detecting the Pri Master. It has never had problems doing this. Then is says 'Pri Slave Drive is Incompatible, F1 to resume'. I press F1 and the message 'Error Loading OS' appears, and nothing happens. This has never happened before. Any help would be great.

    Thanks.

machine make/model, drive make/model would help. what are they?

short of that ... guesswork = go to bios, highlight the primary drive and set it to 'autodect' and reboot.

if u continually get errors, check u'r drive maker's software (go to their web support site to get the latest/greatest) and run it against the problem drive.

other things = check cables/jumper settings - particularly if u've got more than one device on primary IDE. if u can, isolate the drive as a single device and jumper as master.

check u'r MB maker's site for chipset updates. usually there are some.

Agree with skeet6961 and would emphasize, if you have ever installed anything inside the case or opened the case for any reason, check the ribbon cables attached to the drive by unplugging and then plugging back in, at the drive and also the MoBo end, and also be sure the power cables are firmly attached to the drive.
