I have just installed Windows updates on a recent reformat and install of ME. I know, I know, I'm the only person in the world that truly thinks ME is great, 95b as #1 os. It's ALWAYS the MS updates that seem to be my undoing. I really would appreciate a lead to for the following:

1.) I right click the Start button >Explore/Open, and I get the split window as usual but..the left hand pane is blank.
2.) Even though "remember folders view settings" is checked, Windows does not. I prefer the ''List" setting, as I'm not one for graphics.
There are more but these two are enough for the moment.
    TIA Bill N

    Problem Sol-ved

Evidentally one of the MS "critical updates" was to install IE6. I deleted same and was asked if I wanted to install previous version of 5.5... Did so and All is well!!
From now on, "If it ain't broke, don't let MS fix it" is my promise.

    Hello wmn,

Glad you found out which one gave you the problem.

Another good rule is not to do updates all at once. Its been a long time since I've run ME, I think you can set the MS Update options to notify and update seperately with time to run the system between updates.

    Regards - Charles
