I have been using for about a year now on my desktop computer, Spybot and Ad-Aware which were available as a free download. I just purchased Spy Sweeper, which I understand is a highly rated software and since I bought a new laptop, I thought I would try it. But I first installed it on my desktop where I have the other programs mentioned above. I ran the Spy Sweeper after it was installed and it came up with zero and said congratulations! I then ran both the spybot and ad-aware. the ad-aware came up with 44 items and spybot came up with 3.
    The 3 from spybot were:
Windows security center anti virus disable notify - Registry change
    Command services - Registry key
Web trend live. - 2 tracking cookie

Now i'm really confused. Did spy sweeper miss these because it is an inferior product? I was told it gets more spyware and adware than other products.I ended up deleting the Web trend live and left the other 2 since I have no idea if they should go or stay. Would appreciate your thoughts and comments.

    Did you do the following?

Install it. Once the program is installed, it will open.
It will prompt you to update to the latest definitions, click Yes.
Once the definitions are installed, click Options on the left side.
    Click the Sweep Options tab.
Under What to Sweep please put a check next to the following:
    Sweep Memory
    Sweep Registry
    Sweep Cookies
    Sweep All User Accounts
    Enable Direct Disk Sweeping
    Sweep Contents of Compressed Files
    Sweep for Rootkits
Please UNCHECK Do not Sweep System Restore Folder.
Click Sweep Now on the left side.
    Click the Start button.
When it's done scanning, click the Next button.
Make sure everything has a check next to it, then click the Next button.
It will remove all of the items found.

to add to the post by Whiskyman, make sure you dont have any other "realtime" protection running. no adwatch or teatimer. cant have more than 1 running at a time or they will be busy fightin over who is going to do the job leaving you unprotected. I know personally that SpySweeper kicks butt. make sure all "realtime" protection is enabled in spysweeper. also, part of the "immunization" in spybot password protects(so to speak) some of the IE areas and such making it virtually impossible for another program to get into certain areas of your system. I would be willing to bet if you uninstalled S&D and used AdAware SE for extra scanning you would not have any issues. I
also would need to know the firewall you are running to be positive. SpySweeper is known to conflict with sygate personal. when you start your system with both of those programs installed., it spends about 5-10 minutes accessing the harddrive. even with SpySweeper set to not start up. then you will have a heck of a time geting it to start.
    hope this helps.
