Having problems with my Yahoo mail. I can't Reply, Move or Forward mail when I'm using FF but when I'm in IE there's no problem. Any ideas?

http://www.windowsbbs.com/showthread.php?t=49199. Please look at my last reply. I would have never gotten an answer for you, had it not been for Bobbo's problem.

    Need help here.

I've done just about everything I can think of to no avail. I can receive mail in Yahoo... and I can move it around BUT I cannot Reply nor Forward any mail. When I enter Yahoo Mail with Internet Explorer, everything is fine... I can Reply and Forward mail. So, I'm assuming (maybe wrongly but it seems logical) that the problem has to do with Firefox. This problem cropped up about three weeks ago when I was still in 1.0.7 and now that I've upgraded (yeah.. I actually made the plunge) to 1.5, the problem remains. Yahoo Mail if very important to me so it's not a case of simply dumping it for MyWay or a myriad of other webmail accounts. I'd like to find a workaround if anyone has any ideas. Thanks

    Have you tried freePOPs ?
It has worked beautifully, to set up Yahoo, Lycos and Netscape Webmails in any of my mail clients. I get them as POP accounts, and with Netscape Webmail they worked even when I could not connect with the IMAP set up in NS7.2. The problem is that it may not work sending mail, so I am using my ISP SMTP, which cannot done by many people. So, it would not help you, if your ISP is not accomodating.

Thanks for your help, Westside. I've decided to scrap Yahoo. I'm in the process of switching everything over to MyWay. Sadly in the process I somehow locked myself out of SillyDog. Hopefully Antony will be able to help but if not.. well.. I have Windows BBS I guess.

I have to tell you. These past few weeksk I become increasingly aggravated by Mozilla and anything to do with it. I've been involved with Netscape/Mozilla for many years now but I'm so frustrated with the constant upgrades and security issues and plug-ins that don't work etc. etc. I'm about ready to either head back to IE or jump over to Opera once and for all. Yeah... I'm that ticked-off!

I tried it with my Yahoo address. I sent an email from my Thunder bird to my Yahoo. I received it, Moved it, replied to sender, and forwarded with no problems.

I have FF 1.0.7 with two extensions (Google Tool bar and AdBlock) and the default theme.

Have you tried using Fire Fox safe mode? That would let you know if one of your extensions is causing the problem.

    Bill,
that's a good point. Some extentions are not compatible with some website, but, obviously not Adblock. Or, could it be the way that it is configured?

Interesting. Okay... how do I access FF safemode?

btw: up until two weeks ago I was also able to do all of these things. Obviously I've done something but try as I might, I can't figure what I've done. Anyway... safemode?

In XP. Start|All Programs|Mozilla Firefox|Mozilla Firefox Safe Mode.
Click on that, and FF will load with disabled extentions.

I was going to post the same question, but fortunately did a search here first! Ran into exactly the same problem James had; when I followed the advice herein to try Firefox in safe mode, the Yahoo email problems went away. I have 14 extensions installed, and I kind of like them all, so I don't think I'm going to go to the trouble of uninstalling/reinstalling each of them to find which particular one is responsible for the Yahoo mail problems.
Just thought I'd update this post and say that the problem does seem to be an extension issue, and that starting Firefox in safe mode does resolve it!

James, I'm been following your frustrations with FF. Nothing ruins a day more when to "gain" we must "give something up ". I have been fortunate in having full functionality with Yahoo/Webmail/FF. I'm running FF 1.5 with 35 extensions, 12 plugins, and NOT using a default theme. I would be suspicious something is being blocked. I'm using Adblock Plus / Adblock Filter set so no problems their. My guess would be JavaScript or possible image blocking on some jpg/icon (move, reply, forward). I'm just shooting from the hip, hope you can track it down.

    FF Safe Mode

Or, if the shortcut has been deleted for some reason, Start > Run, type <path to> firefox.exe -safe-mode.

Thank you for the input. I did not know about it.
