winlogon has runaway!!

    I have two Windows 2000 Pro SP1 machines on a LAN that have winlogon.exe consuming 70-90% of processor (in spurts) as shown in Task Manager.

    This slows everything down.

    No viruses detected.

    Is this a normal problem?

    Would SP2 help?

    Any ideas as to where to go from here?

    Which AV - more info

    I'm running McAfee v6 on on eof the machines - which has Win2k SP2 installed.
    The other in SP1 and does not run an AV shield - it has no e-mail and does not have TCP/IP installed.
