    Hi,

I have a program that requires a NetHASP-5 key that runs on MS-DOS. When i tried running the program on Windows XP, the 'cmd' prompt does not seem to detect the key plugged in LPT1. Anyone have any idea how to solve this problem? All suggestions from emulation to compatibility to bypasses are welcome!

    Thank you!

If you can locate an older machine that has/had the app running well, copy the contents of both autoexec.bat and config.sys and post the information here.

I'm guessing that some info will need to be added to either the XP environment settings or possibly to autoexec.nt or config.nt to allow the old DOS app to run.

If you don't have an available machine that has it loaded, check your XP box for autoexec.bat and config.sys files and if you find any, post contents here. Otherwise, the documentation for the DOS app should include the data that the app wants to add so post that.

I don't advise just using all the changes an older app might have wanted to make since some of them can give XP a case of indigestion.

Failing in any of the above, you may need to directly tweak the .pif file the DOS app will be using as a shortcut.
