    ORIGINAL MESSAGE

Epson Rx 420 Printer Not Responding With Win Xp

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi, I have installed a new epson photo RX420 onto my newly built system but the printer will not print or if it does it will be 15 mins later. It will not even show the ink levels in epson monitor. This printer worked ok on both my other systems which run Win98 and Mill. NOTE: The scanner and card reader on this printer work fine on the XP system. On this new XP system I have two other printers connected which work no problem.
I have the up to date drivers and software installed. I contacted epson help line, but every thing they suggested to me was ok on my system but still no joy. I have no conflicts with any other hardware.
    Can someone help please?
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi, Just like to refresh this message as the fault is still there.
Have also tried loading drivers onto my laptop and the printer works fine on there.
Have reloaded divers on my main system time and time again but still same problem.:(

    Help!!!!! Please.

You said you had other printers connected. Have you set the Epson as your default printer to see if it then responds correctly?

To me it sounds like an Epson installation file has not "updated" (maybe it should be backdated) one of the previous printer file versions.

I would go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall all the printer software. Go to the Printers folder and remove/delete all the printers. Reboot. Install the RX420 software, test the printer. Install the software for the other printers, test again. If it does not work after installing the other printers software, you may have to decide which printer can run on standard drivers using the "Add Printer" wizard in the printers folder (or just their drivers from the manufacturer's website) and not the accompanying software.

    Hi,
Thanks for this reply. I have tried all this and still the printer will not respond and will not read ink levels. I did a live diagnostics test from the Epson Web site and that came back ok with no fault showing.
Yes I have set it as default printer.

Please keep it coming and thanks to all replies.

Try this starting in Safe Mode.

I can't remember if it was Epson or Lexmark, but in a previous post a very specific answer seemed to resolve the problem. Do some searching of the Epson website for things like resetting spoolers, any error phrases you may have seen since, etc.
