On booting into NS, get a standard maintenance page; no access to My NS. This has been going on for 3 days. Am using NS 7.2; on Win XP.

On another CPU (on Win XP; using NS 7.1) no such events. Everything running ok.

Obviously, something is amiss. Not a server maintenance issue.
    Can you help??

    Welcome to the Forum, ralphmli!

    Ralph,

Could you be a bit more specific about the "standard maintenance page "? I'm not clear on what that could be.

    Thanks!

    Ramona

    Ralph,

No problem here accessing My Netscape. BTW, I have never seen the Maintenance page before!

What I would do first is delete your cookies for my.netscape.com. You can do this by clicking on: Tools | Cookie Manager | Manage Stored Cookies
Look for my.netscape.com, and delete all entries. Now when you try to access My Netscape, you will be asked again for your Password, and a new cookie will be entered.

My thinking is that your cookies may be corrupt. I hope this works for you! Post back and let us know.

    My Netscape access

I deleted all the cookies, not just the My NS ones.
After that the basic My Netscape page came up. I tried to sign in with the usual name and password and the "maintenance" page came up again.
I did this twice with the same result.

I then deleted all the cookies again and signed in with a name and password that I use on the other cpu and it brought up the custom page associated with that name.

I guess that says that something associated with the first name/password is corrupted/not working.
The next question is how to fix it without lossing all the info attached to that names profile.
Can you guide me through a "fix "??

    Ralph

    Ralph,

I can do that! Do similarly to what you did with the cookies:
Tools | password Manager | Manage Passwords

    Look for this entry: https://my.screenname.aol.com

Delete all entries you find for the corrupt password. Careful not to delete the "good" password...

    My Netscape Maintenance Page

I am experiencing the same access problem to the "My Netscape" page, (the customized home page for Netscape usually accessable with sign in, or atomatically with Netscape password manager). I have tried the suggestions about deleting cookies and the stored passwords, but I still cannot log into "My Netscape" and am redirected the Netscape "Maintenance" page.
    Any other suggestions?

    My Netscape log in

Ive tried to log in through the two links provided, however, after submitting my username and password I am again directed to the "maintenance" page. This must be the result of something being altered on my computer and the log in parametere have been changed.
Other then deleting the cookies and the NS password manager entries, what else could be causing this redirect log-in failure for "My Netscape "? .... Anyone?
(I fear that even deleting and reinstalling Netscape will only result in the same problem.)

I am having problems with both links provided by Ramona. The first is, after logging in, what I would call a maintenance page. It presents me with an AOL address (I quit AOL in March). The second one leads me to the old Webmail format, where I find that all my mails were wiped out, for the third time this month. And, there is a more or less maintenance page with the AOL address.
Finally, I tried from the netscape.com website, selecting mail then. The site is http://m01.mail.netscape.com/ I think that you should get the login, from there. I had a more detailed URL, but I think that it included my personal information. I had only three messages in the Trash folder, dating back to May, with no check mark to delete.
As I tried to read the headers, they disappeared, and below the now empty screen, it said that recently deleted message can be recovered for 24 hrs ( or within 24 hrs. That message went away). In my case, I gave up on one account, and what is the use of using this one?

One work around for this My Netscape problem

I almost resorted to trying MS Explorer  ,but decided that I would just re-register for the My Netscape site with a different login name. This of course meant recreating my Personal Finance portfolio, bookmark links, general content and layout but at least I'm up and running again. I was careful to delete all netscape cookies and passwords in order to remove all reference to the previous log in information.
Thanks to all who posted. :)

    Maintenance screen under MSE

I use MS Explorer and My Netscape as my home page (don't ask). I have the same problem for about a week - I get the maintenance page. All the other log-ons mentioned work OK, but I can't get away from the maintenance screen for My Netscape. It started about last Monday or so. Any ideas ?

I had been told that the problem was fixed (of course, it may have not been for everyone). I logged in at My Netscape , and also at my single mail account, which had been wiped out.
I cannot tell what is going on, for sure, because I do not like to use netscape.com.

Hi, Like Ralph and others, I have lost my ability to log to "My Netscape." The first time that it happened, after much travail and loss of my Netscape Profile, I recovered after I found the thread here. I reconstructed everything and was doing fine, but last night, when logging into Netscape the Maintenance Page came up and everything I have tried has failed. I created a new Screename and password, but even using that, I am taken to the maintenance screen. I believe that I have too many Screenames registered and I need to clean the old ones out but I don't know if that is possible. I cannot find a way to communicate with the AOL Screename site. Two questions for anyone that may have suggestions: First, is there a way to delete old unused screenames, and, if so, how. Second, is there a different or better way to recover the ability to reach My Netscape? Many thanks. Jon

Sorry for being negative. But, how about a third choice? Give up on it.
I can't reproduce your problems, no matter what. My e-mail is mostly a mess, but My Netscape has been working. Of course, I don't use it very much, and, that may be the secret.
I have been in touch with a fellow at AOL, working with this feature, and, I am sending him a link to this thread.
Hopefully, he will post here, or give me some information.

    Welcome to the Forum, jonsford!

    Jon,

Not sure why you get the maintenance screen, but here are some suggestions:

    1. Make sure your browser is set to "Accept All Cookies. "
    2. Make sure you remove the following two domains from your "Cookied Sites" list:
my.screenname.aol.com and the domain you are trying to login to.
(This list is available by clicking the "View Stored Cookies" button.)
    3. Make sure JavaScript is enabled in your browser.
    4. If your browser supports P3P privacy settings (for example, Netscape 7.0), make sure your P3P setting is medium or low (not high).
    6. Have you tried clearing the browser cache and cookies to see if that resolves it?

Have you tried changing ONLY your password? Try it from "My Account, which is just below "Welcome ". See screen show below:

    I gave up

As you say, there is a third option and I took it. I abandoned My Netscape and set up my home page on Yahoo. That works just fine.

I did not want to make any specific suggestions. But, I have been very irritated by the lack of response from AOL. I did send my feedback to my friend at AOL.
He has been responsive, in the past, but I have not heard from him, in a while.
And, yes, I did get the maintenance screen, myself, for no good reason.
Everything is ok now, with the single account which I am still using.
