    Windows will not start up.

I do get the windows startup screen then a blue screen flashes so fast that I can't read what it says. Then the computer restarts.

It also does the same thing in safe mode.

what can I do from here?

    Thanks

When you finally get this fixed, you probably want to change the setting for BSOD/Stop error action from the current (and default) automatically restart to have the machine stop at the BSOD screen.

Meanwhile, if you have an XP install CD, boot to the recovery console and key in
chkdsk x: /r (where x is whatever drive your OS is on) and ENTER. It probably won't fix the problem but is worth a try.

If no luck with chkdsk and if you are comfortable working inside the PC, remove all memory except one stick, remove all hardware you can run without (so keep video and not much else that isn't soldered to the motherboard) and try to boot. If no luck, try with each of your memory sticks and all others not installed.

If still no luck, boot from the CD and do a repair install of the OS. It may clear up the issue and should not destroy your present setup. I'd do the repair install while all the hardware you removed is still removed.

If still no luck, you are pretty much down to a fresh format & OS install which will trash whatever you have on the system partition or taking the box to a shop to see if they can figure out anything.
