Hello again, I've got another problem with this computer. It seems to be minor but I would like to fix it if possible. When I run the One Button Checkup in Norton System Works it shows a 'miscellaneous problem' when checking the disk integrity and that I should run Norton Disk Doctor to repair it. However, when I do this the program gets to the 'directory structure' part and gives the message 'restarting due to disk write'. What is writing to the disk and how do I disable it in order to fix this problem? I've also tried running the NDD from the cd and it gives the same message. TIA

Have you tried closing all programs by using Ctrl-Alt-Delete? You should close everything except Explorer and Systray (and your Norton program). If anything is running and writing to the disk, that should take care of it.

Thanks, Mike, I guess I just need to do a little searching before I ask these questions:)! I did search this forum and found that turning off the Norton Protected recycle bin might do the trick. I did so and, bingo, problem solved. Sure glad I stumbled onto this forum. Thanks again, Frank. By the way Norton Protected recycle bin is now re-enabled.

Glad to hear that you got your scan to finish. Thanks for the update.
