I have a CD-RW disc that cannot be erased. It says it is write protected. I checked properties and archive is checked. What does that mean? I cannot uncheck it. Must I leave what's on this disc? How does a disc get write protected?

How does a disc get write protected? I don't use CD-RW's but my best guess would be that the CD was closed on the last burning session rather than setting the burner up for multisession at the burning stage. Just guessing :)

    Archive attribute.

What burning software are you using? If you use Nero's InCD... put the disk in the drive, in 'MyComputer' right-click on your CD drive, select properties, then select the 'InCD' tab. There should be a checkbox labeled 'Write Protection'. Uncheck it.
I'm not sure on other burning software, I've used Nero for the past few years. HTH
