kennycc - Welcome to the Board :)

Unplug the USB drive and go into Device Manager and uninstall (right click on the device > uninstall) all the devices under USB controllers, reboot to let Windows find them again.

Post back with the results - good or bad :)

uninstall/reinstall the driver according to the maker's instructions on the problem machine. almost surely a driver/control issue. eg - the problem machine is missing software the drive requires or the software is corrupt. so ... kill it and reinstall per the maker's advice w/ the latest drivers/etc

when i bought my hard driver there was no software for windows xp only thing they said is that i need to install software if i was using windows 9x and not for windows xp.
and in the instructions just for xp it say just plug in the usb and windows will find the hard driver and so on.
so i have no software to reinstall other then usb device.
