    Please help!

I am running out of options. I have just got done with a format and reinstall of XP.

First the problem occored about a week ago for no reason. My computer would give me these errors.
Faulting application iexplore.exe, version 6.0.2800.1106, faulting module mshtml.dll, version 6.0.2800.1106, fault address 0x000b2c2d.

    Event Type: Error
    Event Source: Application Error
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 1000
    Date: 12/4/2005
    Time: 3:21:21 PM
    User: N/A
    Computer: SENTURY
    Description:
Faulting application iexplore.exe, version 6.0.2800.1106, faulting module flash8.ocx, version 8.0.22.0, fault address 0x000a3541.

A bunch for other applications as well, mostly Explorer and Media Player. (The event Ids disappeared since my last system crash.)

This was the exact same issue I had before I reformated.

No upgrades or software installs before this happened. Just downloading torrents.
So I thought it may be some sort of virus. Reformated and here we are.

What could cause all my applications to fault all the time. In fact I had to type this up in wordpad because explorer kept crashing before I could finish.

    Again Please help!
    Nick

I do not profess to be able to analyse minidump logs, but it would look very miuch like you have a memory problem.

Suggest you run Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool from MS.

And follow the suggestions from here ....

is heat an issue? or any HW that u don't need installed?

check u'r temps, PS wattage vs draw, and strip it to minimum on HW end if u can't localize to software issue. check u'r RAM too.

    and if u'r OCing ... don't ;) ... least to test

just saw u'r other post re: mini dump - should probably keep it all in one thread ;) ... and i'd agree w/ petec in that it DOES sound like RAM

Sorry for the two posts. I thought it didn't get through. Sometimes I can't even complete these messages. Found a solution though. Run in Safe Mode, haven't had any issues other than 2 programs with faulting modules errors in the event log.

    My XP version - 2600.xpsp1.20828-1920:service pack 1.
As far as patches, security upgrades, I can't complete those, locks up almost everytime at microsofts site. Got a couple new security patches. This is a fresh install, of OS with full formating. Same issue was happening before the format. I tried Firefox, same. Tired Media player classic, same.

my heat appears to be fine. 39/52
    PS =NeoPower 480
    480 watt ATX12V v2.0 power supply

I don't know how to determine the draw, but I got
    Albatron KX600 Pro
    Athlon Xp 2400+
    1 GB DDR400
    ATI 9600 Pro
    Maxtor 300 MB
(sata 300 MB, sata 400 MB, 250 GB IDE - not connected since format)
    DVDRW
    DVDrom

    Not Over Clocked.

Did a mem86 test and it past all but the strider6 test(may be mistyped).
But if I remeber correctly, I ran the same test a few months ago for no paticular reason and cam back with the same result. Strider6 Failed.

The thing that makes me wonder, why does the computer run with out errors in Safe Mode, but crash when fully loaded.

Is there some driver, hardware conflict?

    Thanks for your help.

If you have recently done an install, it won't be difficult to repeat it. :D Format alone doesn't clean the disk completely if malware was the original problem. Suggest you consider removing the system partition and then making a new partition before formatting and reinstalling. That would clean the system areas and rule out residual malware, and if the problem continues after all that, it looks like a hardware investigation would be in order.

I've merged your two threads - you'll get better advice if all the info is in one place.

i'd suspect that some driver is the issue. eg - if safe mode works, it's more than likely a driver issue or bad HW. safe mode loads only MS drivers so when it crashes outside safe mode, it's pointing fingers at the 'other' drivers. check for ALL updates. u'r BIOS, Firmware, vid card, sound etc.
