    Help!!!!

I've used the XP utility to transfer settings and files from an old pc to a new one very successfully in the past. Recently I came to use it on my own personal PC and (stupidly I know) I formatted the original drive before I restored them to the new and then found that the "backed-up" files were corrupted.

Is there any way to recover the data from the files that the utility creates? Is there perhaps some utility around (I don't mind paying) that will fix the files and allow me to recover at least some of the data. I've used Easy Recovery on the original disk and it allows me to see the file names of some files but recovery is not good.

    Regards

    Gengis

BTW has anyone tried using the facility to transfer form PC to PC other than XP?

I have used the xp file and settings transfer wizard to transfer from a win98 install to xp; but I did that over ethernet with both computers running in all cases. Are you saying you ran the wizard and instead of transferring the files over a network you choose to burn them to a CDR and then you formatted the drive and are trying to use it to import them back?
