I have Windows ME with Word 2000 and recently found the Equation Editor tool missing. The 507KB program AQNED32.EXE is still in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Equation and I followed the help instructions the best I could and somehow managed to get an Equation Editor tool under View>Tools but when I click it, an empty toolbox appears on its own toolbar line above the main window but does not respond to any clicking. I messed around for an hour and now a miniature box 20mm high by 15mm wide appears in the main window. It has Ec written on a blue border at the top followed by the delete X box but it doesn't respond to any form of clicking or attempts to enlarge it other than disappearing when I click the X. Any help would be gratefully received.

    Kind regards,
    Pat

Have you tried a repair of MS Office?

I had tried a repair Newt but I think it was telling me there was nothing amiss. So I played around a bit more, as lone workers without a degree in 'Computer Risk Management' are apt to do and I have now got it to the stage where I can click AQNED32.EXE which appears in its own window, then click View>Toolbar, type out the formula then Edit>copy and paste into the Word file. So I suppose I will have to accept this as an alternative until such time in the future I can manage to "convert" it back into an Equation Editor tool which used to be positioned at the end of the Formatting toolbar of the Word document itself.

    Kind regards,
    Pat
