For some time now I have been getting the question below. Version 2002, SP3. Always happens when I reply, or forward mail.

! A program is trying to access e-mail addresses you have stored in Outlook. Do you want to allow this?

If this is unexpected, it may be a virus and you should choose No
    .

The box then gives me a choice of time periods to allow it, or choose no.

I have check all the Outlook settings and Norton Internet security/anti virus for any clue as to how to get rid of it.

    Any suggestions???

    Thanks

    Steve,

Have checked several times, and am up to date on Norton definitions.

I want to say this all started after doing an "update" to xp.

Check your event logs for errors or warnings that look related. If you find one or more, they may contain more information that will help us track down the cause of what does sound a bit nasty.

Click on start, on run, key in eventvwr.msc, and click OK.

If you find any events, double-click open one of them, click on the icon below the up/down arrows to send a text copy to your clipboard, and paste the results here. Only one of any specific error but feel free to post up to a half-dozen different ones if you think they will help.

Download the latest version of Hijackthis (see quicklinks in my sig), unzip it to a normal folder (so not a temp folder of any sort and not the desktop) the run a scan & log create then post the entire log file here.

Finally went to Symantec and looked up the error.

Seems as tho Office XP SP2 did some funny things.

They said they fixed it and if you update the problem will go away.

    Guess what it didn't.

I will call today and post what the fix is.

Talked to Symantec and they referred me to a Microsoft knowledge base article that spoke about the problem.

It all hinges on SP-3 for Office XP.

If you installed it and use Norton the problem CAN surface.

The solution is to uninstall Office and reinstall.

Did it and so far it worked, NO messages.

    Thanks
