On my laptop I am using Win 98SE, in the My Documents folder on the desktop I have text files, pdf files, jpeg files and several other types. When I right click on a file or highlight it first with a left click and then right click it and select Sent To all that shows up is send to, if I go to delect or copy or any of the other programs I have in the Right Click menu they do not highlight and nothing happens when I click on one--it used to work OK. If I click on any files inside a folder in My Documents everything works as it should. Any ideas?

quickshot--If this just started in the last few days you could try Start|ShutDown|Restart in MS-DOS mode|OK. When in MS-DOS, at the prompt, type scanreg /restore|Enter|pick a date prior to the problem|Enter|Wait|Reboot.

I really do not know when it started, just noticed it today. I things are in a folder other than My Documents it seems to work OK. I will delve into it a bit deeper. Thanks

quickshot--The scanreg /restore suggestion is usually good for only five days after the problem started. You have nothing to lose by trying it.
I have not used Win98 for some time, so cannot remember. Is this My Document folder on the Desktop one that you created? I cannot remember whether My Documents was on the Desktop by default. Do you have another My Documents folder elsewhere--like in C:\My Documents? How is right click working on the files contained in it? If that works OK and the files contained are the same, then maybe replace the one with problems on the Desktop with a copy of the one in C:\MyDocuments.

Sorry so late in replying. I do have another folder in C:/My Documents and the one on the Desktop is just a link to it--the same things occur in both. If the files are in a folder inside the My Document folder then the right click options works as it should but not with files that are in the My Document folder itself--I have just placed the files in appropriate folders and work from there. Thanks for your replies.
